Tom Norwood joined Horizons after a successful career as a consultant, church pastor and non-profit leader. An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), he founded a full-service fundraising consulting firm with a national client roster of educational institutions and churches as well as faith-based, cultural, human service and veterans’ service organizations. Over the past several years, he has provided stewardship, capital campaign and planned giving services to a variety of churches and church governing bodies.
Tom began his fundraising career in the development office at Davidson College in NC before he became Vice President for Advancement at the Air Force Memorial Foundation in Washington, D.C. Prior to his career in development and consulting, he served two Presbyterian congregations and held leadership positions on regional and national church committees.
Tom holds the coveted Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation from the Association of Fundraising Professionals and has served on the board of the North Carolina Planned Giving Council. He is a regular speaker at regional and national fundraising and stewardship conferences. In addition, he is the author of two books and numerous articles in professional and theological journals.
Tom is a retired Air Force Reserve KC-10 Instructor Pilot/Aircraft Commander. He holds degrees from Davidson College, Columbia Theological Seminary, and Yale University and is based in the Charlotte, NC area.
